Layercake.
Branding for the industrial designers.
Layercake consists of professional creatives and experience-oriented entrepreneurs. The company was founded in 2018 by the brothers Diego and Mario Rohner. With their many years of experience in the industrial design and visualization scene, they have a large network of reliable partners. Their core competence lies in the materialization of three-dimensional volumes, made from two-dimensional unfoldings. Their figures are used at trade fairs, in scenography, at events or as displays. Like many other cool things, Layercake – and also their branding – was born out of a mixture of passion, dedication, friendship and optimism.
The architectural-looking corporate design plays with the strict geometric shapes common to Layercake’s products. The logo design transforms the y into a distinctive sign that also functions as a recognition feature when detached. The brand strategy workshop resulted in the claim “Shaping your ideas,” which conveys the brand values. The technical aspects of the work, folding and CNC milling are visualized by the house font “Keiner.” The stationery on Rebello recycled paper with the black-cut business card also leaves a tactile impression.

Web design
The design elements developed for Layercake come into play the most in the web design. The industrial designers present their work in a strict grid. The website is kept in black and white, a dash of color only shines through the hover in the accent color yellow. The 3D models are interactive and can be rotated 360° to view them from all sides. Depending on the breakpoint, the logo version adjusts to the elongated or the two-line version.
