Reich's "Music for 18 Musicians".
Performance with exhibition in Freiburg and Basel.
Not only since Steve Reich's 80th birthday in 2016 his music has been on everyone's lips and ears. Around him, the forefather of the so-called minimal music and his works, no one comes around anymore. The performances of his compositions still have something of the zeitgeist of the 70s and 80s. There, listeners who otherwise rarely attend classical music concerts meet and get involved with this music unconditionally.
"18!" combines the performance of Steve Reich's Music for 18 Musicians with the specially conceived exhibition "Morphogen - The Forming of the Acoustic", which will be on show from 18 June at the Museum Tinguely. The exhibition focuses on various aspects of the score of Music for 18 Musicians and makes it possible to experience Steve Reich's work in several dimensionsr.
Performed by the Black Forest Percussion Group and the Holst-Sinfonietta, the concert will take place on 25 June at Museum Tinguely and on 22/23 June at E-Werk in Freiburg im Breisgau. The introduction to the works will begin at 7 pm and the concert at 8 pm.
